14 Year Old Girl Stabs Sister to Death

Angry girls sometimes get a pass when they lash out, usually until it’s too late.

Families, schools, communities, and even the legal system seem to have no problem with holding young teenage boys accountable for their anger. But, when it comes to girls, most dismiss it as a phase. When in fact, young girls can be just as deadly as their male counterparts.

This story hits way too close to my childhood home for me. There was nearly six years difference between my sister and me growing up. The age gap meant two things, I was always the babysitter, and since she was my sister, I wasn’t allowed to discipline her. Not that it would have worked anyways.

I remember the first time she attacked me with an actual computer. I still have the weird bone chip in my elbow that hurts whenever the weather changes. When I told my mother, her response was, “How did she even lift it let alone swing it?” Pure adrenaline rage, that’s how. The reason for her rage that day, I asked her to help close the windows since it had started to rain.

Another time she came at me with a steak knife. I only got a cut to the arm before the phone ringing distracted her. Once she whacked the back of my head with my own roller-skate she had picked up, I lost two hours of memory after that event.

And I could give a dozen other examples, and not once did she ever get in trouble. I usually did for not being able to keep her under control while I was babysitting her.

So when I read this recent account, it gave me chills, wondering how close I had come to death myself? When we shared a bedroom, she used to say some pretty sick things. It’s why I refused to stay in a room with her. I was finally allowed my own room, and I always locked the door after everyone else went to sleep since doors were not allowed to be locked in the house.

Teenagers, young pre-teens have still-developing brains. It’s why the things they do are usually so irrational, and everything seems like such a big deal to them. It’s the reason they put restrictions on their driving and other activities.
