Adding Clickable Links to an SVG Image File

When I was creating my portfolio website I was adding my resume to the website in an embed tag. This worked great and all until I realized that for some people embedding a pdf within a webpage does not work for them. Yikes!

I brought this up to my friend who told suggested that I make the PDF file into an SVG file. There is no shortage of websites that will do the converting for you but I had links on my resume that I wanted to remain clickable and the conversion did not preserve that functionality for me.

Good thing you can create a clickable link within an SVG image file! Normally when creating an svg tag with some text you would do something like this:

We’re almost there! The only thing missing is an a tag with a slight modification:

The code above will render some SVG text that is clickable and will link right back to here!
