Technology vs Content

Today we go to Google and search for a plumber in the area, the search engine filters the results proposing those closest to me, then those more relevant and better indexed, etc. Every day, around 50…

Is 5G a real danger?

In the modern era there exists an endless hunger for convenience, speed, and ease of access to high speed internet. To this, network providers tout the fifth generation (5G) of wireless networks as the plausible answer. They promise greater capacity, a higher density of users, faster download speeds, and more reliable connectivity than our current 4G networks, but at what cost? Is it really worth sacrificing our future for transient elation?

The technology that will drive 5G is difficult to perfectly describe or define in its current state, there isn’t any fully tested & final standards for 5G as it’s still under test trial runs.

Despite this, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has already approved the spectrum for 5G and several companies are rolling out test networks in the United States. And so has the authorities concerned in countries like South Korea, Japan, China with expected launch by 2020 and now as we discuss TRAI of India has invited a chinese company named Huawei to conduct 5G test runs.

This increases the capacity of mobile networks by a factor of 22 — or more. And logic follows that their EMR levels will increase in proportion with the increased capacity.

5G seeks to use a whole new spectrum — that of the millimeter waves (MMV) within the range between 24Ghz to 100Ghz & not radio waves — to allow for more traffic and speeds upto 1 Gbps.

Millimeter waves get their name because they’re much shorter than radio waves at only 1 to 10mm in length. Shorter waves mean these have higher frequency, which means they transmit more energy.

Antennas like these will spread all across cities.

Blanket an entire city with thousands of miniature cell phone base stations. That way you can never be far away from a strong signal. These so-called “small cells” get installed every 250 meters or so, forming a dense and pervasive network.

This puts all living kind in grave danger with dire physiological consequences which is lamented by this excerpt from the Daily Mail.

Cell phone towers create electromagnetic radiation which are considered a possible carcinogen by the World Health Organization. And innumerous studies link to cell phone towers and an increase in serious illnesses. Again, this is based on 3G and 4G signal strength and radiation & not for the more powerful 5G network. I can only imagine what devastating effect 5G will have for both psychological & physiological well being.

According to Dr. Joel Moskowitz, a public health professor at the University of California,

Another prominent scholar, Dr. Yael Stein from Jerusalem’s Hebrew University argues that the human skin has the ability to absorb more than 90% of microwave radiation and will cause major problems from head to toe- especially for the vulnerable such as kids, elderly and pregnant women.

Active denial system (ADS)

5G would likely mean millions of antennas posted not just in cities but along power lines and street corners in residential neighborhoods.

Our future is in our hands, or is it?
