FPL Differentials Gameweek 3

As we enter Gameweek 3, a significant number of people are setting themselves up in one of two basecamps.

Basecamp one; WILDCARD TRIGGERED!!!! We’ve realised the team we spent four weeks putting together was only designed for the first two weeks of the season and an entire face-lift is needed.

Basecamp two; Burn and Turn. Less of major surgery and more of a nip/tuck is the approach here. Three or four transfers being used and -4’s aplenty, all in a desperate attempt to get an invitation to the Pukki party.

I, for one, am firmly positioned in basecamp uno. I set my team up with the intention of maximising my returns for the first two gameweeks and then bringing in the players I was unsure of once patterns developed. Here are the players that could change or improve your fortunes in the coming weeks.

Defender

Aymeric Laporte/Man City/6.5m/8.5% Ownership

Everyone knows how good Man City are. They have broken countless records for their goalscoring and points tally. You don’t need me to tell you how impressive they are.

The team defends as a whole and as a result they rarely concede. Even the two goals they allowed against Spurs came from only three shots on target. This blip aside, City are about to go on an incredible run of fixtures. Between now and Gameweek 11, City only play two teams that finished in last years top half; Everton (A), Wolves (H). They also play Brighton, Watford, Aston Villa and Southampton at home and make the trips to Bournemouth, Norwich and Palace.

I would be very surprised if Pep’s men do not pick up six clean sheets in those nine games. Throw in the fact that Laporte registered three goals and three assists last season and you have the makings of, for the moment until his ownership increases, a very nice differential.
