Guide To Easily Pause Or Close Your Shopify Store

If you are a Shopify shopkeeper, or maybe have an active Shopify account, then you might want useful information on closing it down entirely, or suspending it for some time. If you are looking to step back from your shop, or if you wish to shut down it entirely, you can cancel your subscription and turn off your account.

If you find that Shopify is not serving your needs anymore, or if you wish to move on to an alternative Shopify like WooCommerce, then you will have to cancel your Subscription and remove your Store. If you do not open up your Shopify store for three months, you will either upgrade to the “Pause and Build” plan for a reduced subscription cost — or you can cancel your store. You will be moved to Shopifys Pause and Build plan at the reduced cost unless you opt for another plan within three months of closing your business.

Shopifys Pause and Build plan may be a good option if you need a break from selling, but still want to keep working on your store. You can only select Shopifys Pause and Building plan if your store has been in the paid plan for at least 60 days in a row after the end of the free trial. You cannot switch between the trial and Pause plans; you need to have been on a paid active plan for at least 60 days in order to suspend your store.

If a store is using the free trial, and you still have not selected a pricing plan, there is nothing to be done. Also, when your trial is over and you want to open the store again, you need to select an appropriate pricing plan in order to reactivate. Besides, if the trial period has expired and you want to restart your store, you need to choose an appropriate pricing plan.

While your business is suspended, your account will temporarily pause in order to pay the lower membership fees. Shopify administrators let you suspend your store under Pause & Build, but you still need to pay the $9 monthly subscription fee for your store to stay up.

To suspend the subscription, go into the Store admin and choose the Options option on the lower-left corner of your screen, followed by Plans. Log into your Shopify admin dashboard, and in the left-hand menu, click Online Store> Preferences. Go to Settings > Accounts in your Shopify admin to change the status option of the store from Pausing to Shutting Down.

To delete a store which is charged to the retailer, click Compare Plans under Plan Details on your account page. With PUT, your storeas website remains available and youall continue to have access to the storeas administrative dashboard, but your storesa checkout functionality is disabled. Require will stop customers from processing orders, but youall not lose admin access, your Shopify account, and your storeas name and URL.

Unlike suspending Shopify, closing your store means that you wonat get charged $9/month, or any additional fees, if youave cancelled any third-party apps and custom domains. Pausing your shopify store or cancelling a Shopify subscription is a great option for you, as it guarantees you will be able to go back and open your shop again whenever you like.

Shopify Subscription gives you freedom in choosing when you reopen, and you do not have to regret closing your store if you ever want to reopen. It lets you suspend the shopfront and keep working on the store at a reduced monthly subscription price of $9. The Pause & Build plan also gives you admin access, so you can keep working on your store, and see basic reports about your sites performance.

You are able to access the Shopify admin to change products, access basic reports on your sites performance, and access to make payments manually using Draft Orders. You will be able to access the shop admin, access basic reports about your sites performance, and see your Shopify shopfront when it is suspended and under construction status. Here, you will be able to select the length of time that your Shopify store remains suspended (either 1 day or 7 days), and if customers should still be able to place orders while it is suspended.

In the meantime, you can activate your Shopify account again by going back into the Shopify Dashboard, selecting your plan, and making your payment. If you really change your mind, you will have to select a new plan and activate your Shopify shop, which you can set up right from the closed shop screen shown above.

You can still keep your business offline for several months, and you can still save money on more than just the basic Shopify plan. While your shop is suspended (for up to 90 days), you cannot use the Point of Sale System, Shopify Gift Cards, discounts, and third-party integrations like Facebook and Google. In case, you are not happy with Shopify and looking for Shopify alternatives (some of the popular choices are Shopify vs. WooCommerce or Shopify vs. Magento), then either rescinding your free Shopify trial or closing your Shopify shop for good is the right option for you.
