Bootcamp challenges and how i have adapted

As it concerns me this is going to be one week and four days that i am doing Andela Bootcamp. It has been a long road and through that journey i have encountered a lot of challenges if i can call them that, or my own suitable word would be changes. some of them include the following:

Time management, as student coming from college i was considering that time management could be easy as it basically a part of every student still doing studies, but for the time that i have spent in Andela Bootcamp so far i have learned that it can be way more than what you expected and what i have learned from there is that it you always make sure that you do your work as soon as you have it because as someone being supervised by an lfa, you find your time table changing more frequently, as some time i find myself planning to finish a given task and all of a sudden all i find myself doing for the whole day is just fixing bugs that my lfa doesn’t like, so what i found helpful and what i am doing is to run all the given tasks as soon as i have them so that i can have time for every thing else that comes along unexpected.

Another thing that have been have been bugging me for while is that some expectation never comes as planned and that happens mostly when you have work to deliver and the person who is supposed to approve your work is not available at the moment or as frequent as you would like it to be, and in that situations you might find yourself hanging there doing nothing. So the best approach so far i came up with was to do as much things as possible when they are around or may be the limited hours that they say would be available then when it is time to leave you keep working on those other things that don’t depend too much on them and i do believe that balance creates a better efficiency with your clock.

I personally also learned a lot about collaboration which wasn’t really a challenge because it is one of the biggest thing i look forward to improve but as anyone new to some thing it took me while to adapt but then i learned to ask when i have a blocker and give a hand when some one needs it and not only that i was part of a small group project i which you are supposed to use scrum Agile meteorology to develop an idea. And i learned that every one is good at something and all you have to do is spread tasks and keep the communication open so you are sure to not miss anything.

And lastly, i think the hardest change is the pace at which you have to learn as you now have many things involved you might loose your self a little bit. But i naively think that perfection is finding the balance between fast and steady and if i can run both at the same time time and deliver good output them that is an accomplishment, or as the old saying says

“to improve is to change, to perfect is to change often”

And so far i think i am getting used to change that it is starting to be part of the my system and i look forward to learn more while i am still here.
